Letter from The President 2024

Categories: Announcements

Greetings and Happy 2024 to everyone!

Please join me in thanking the current Board members, who have committed to being on the Board another 2 years. I would not be able to continue the work without their support – so thank you to Sarah Vaughan, VP; Leslyn Weekes, Treasurer and Francene Simmonds, Secretary. We each had a lot of personal challenges this year but we pushed through and have come out much stronger for it. A big thanks also to those members who have continued to support the work of the Chapter through all our fundraising activities over the years – without you I’m not sure we would be in the good position we find ourselves in today.

We again had a very productive year in fundraising, even though we only had one major event for the year in our annual Walk/Run in Stone Mountain Park! This event almost surpassed our annual goal so once again thanks to all those who supported us!

This year we were able to make a donation to the school in the form of 10 lab top computers. Thanks to several of the alumnae members and friends of the Chapter who helped us by taking down the computers to the school. We also made a donation of 4 sewing machines to the school earlier in the year and you can read about these donations on our website under Gallery.

Our first meeting for the year was on January 13th and we started planning the fundraising events for 2024. We are hoping for at least 3 events, so plan to attend the next meeting to hear and see how you can help with these events.

Your continued support of our efforts to make a difference in the lives of the girls at our Alma Mater remains our top priority. So please, I ask you to consider upping your involvement in the work of the Chapter for 2024 as the work we do for the school is greatly appreciated by the students there.

Your engagement with the Chapter, no matter how small, along with paying your dues helps a lot as well, for not only does it give you the power to vote but also allows your voice to be heard! Dues can be paid through the website, mailing to our new P.O. Box address or electronic payment to our bank account using our email address.

Our meetings continue to be virtual, so watch out for the emails with the link to join us. Meetings are always the first Saturday of the month at 6pm, unless the schedule changes for one reason or other.  We continue to try to keep them to an hour or less, so mark your calendars and plan to join us!

Remember that the chapter is not only a means to help our Alma Mater but it can be also a resource for chapter members to reach out and stay in touch with each other. We are a strong group of women, who are changing our world and doing so with class and style!

I look forward to seeing you on a call in the very near future! Till then, be safe, take care and God Bless!

Thanks,

Heather Potter
