For more than five years now The Queen’s Alumnae Atlanta Chapter has been volunteering with a local non-profit – MedShare – several times each year. This October 2016 we helped sort and pack donated and surplus medical and equipment and supplies destined for the devastated country of Haiti that was hit so hard by Hurricane Matthew. This service is part of our giving back to the community in which we live in as we “bloom where we are planted,” serving in our immediate community and having an impact that we would not have dreamed of.
MedShare is a non profit humanitarian aid organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of people, communities and our planet by directly delivering surplus medical supplies and equipment to communities in need around the world. They also provide biomedical equipment training and service to healthcare organizations and medical professionals serving populations in need. MedShare’s deliveries of vital medical supplies and equipment have decreased the USA’s carbon footprint and brought health, healing and the promise of better lives to 97 countries, including Jamaica, and countless patients. MedShare volunteers have sorted and repackaged over 6,000 tons of medical supplies and equipment and has built a volunteer corps of 20,000 humanitarians annually. Queen’s Alumnae are proud to be listed in that number.
Our next service date will be early next year, we hope you will join us in service then.
